Diversity & Inclusion Promotion Department is leading the charge to change awareness, aiming to create an organization where diverse talent can accept each other's perspectives and ways of thinking, increase work engagement, and where all employees can work with fulfillment and thrive. As part of this, starting in 2021, we will be conducting unconscious bias training for all executives and employees at each level every year.
Unconscious biases are unconscious biased ways of looking at things and assumptions that we all have. They are formed by past experiences and the environment in which we grew up, and can unknowingly have a negative impact on others and ourselves.
During the training, participants learn how to recognize and address unconscious bias through examples of the impact of gender bias and self-reflection exercises.
Participants commented, "By being aware of the existence of unconscious bias on a daily basis, I want to reduce the negative impact it has on others and myself, leading to the growth and revitalization of the entire organization." and "Unconscious bias is difficult because it is unconscious. That is why I want to make an effort to remain aware of it."
Obayashi will continue to strive to create a workplace where each employee can demonstrate their abilities, work with health, vitality, and pride, regardless of gender or environment.
