Supporting the construction site with power management and maintenance

I am principally in charge of the inspection and management of equipment such as electricity, water supply, and drainage at the construction site. There are various heavy equipment and machinery at the site of dam construction, which is called " Comprehensive civil engineering” and we are striving to secure and provide a stable supply of the necessary power to operate them.
Besides response, the required supply amount according to the work on-site, daily maintenance is also indispensable for no more trouble operation. It's a job that requires broad knowledge, technology, and responsiveness to deal with various machinery and tools, and accordingly, it’s so rewarding. Some people are concerned about the impact of construction work on the surrounding environment, but we are working to clear up the worries of everyone in the neighborhood by thoroughly following turbid water treatment and noise and vibration control that complies with established standards.

Struggling at the vanguard of dam construction

When I was in graduate school, I heard from an alumnus that "working on the front line is more interesting than doing construction planning and design," and I became interested in working on-site. Currently, I am mainly in charge of concrete work for the inspection corridor and emergency spillway. There are many things to do, such as preparations for placing concrete, meetings, and preparation of materials for inspections. Since there are many types of work and many people are involved, it is important to have a relationship with people. After several times of discussions, the sense of accomplishment is indescribable when the problem is solved. I would like to continue to gain experience in various fields, including dams, and develop a wide range of knowledge.

Construction of safety and secure dam which starts with soil

I am in charge of the quality of the soil that will be the core (clay that prevents water infiltration) of the rockfill dam and the management of the materials sampled on site. In recent years, many tasks have been improved and progressed through the use of ICT. However, to select the most suitable one from the countless types of soil and combination patterns, judgment by human eyes is still indispensable. For the past 30 years, we will contribute to the construction of safe and secure dams that will not collapse even in unforeseen circumstances, based on our knowledge and experience in producing and supplying soil of the quality that meets the requirements. People imagine that only men are involved in dam construction, but currently, most of my subordinates are women. There are many excellent people, and they are mainly active in the laboratory that controls the quality of the soil. I would like to continue to actively promote women and create a place where women can play an active role in dam construction.

Implementation of highly efficient construction with ICT and teamwork

I am in charge of heavy machinery civil engineering work at the dam site. Efficient operation of heavy machinery on site is very important in terms of cost. Surveying and data sharing using ICT, as well as machine guidance, the efficiency of excavation and embankment work compared to before has greatly improved. What I feel is particularly important is efficiency through teamwork. Each worker operates the heavy machinery while checking the progress of each work, and the construction proceeds smoothly. To that end, the training of inexperienced young people is also a key point. I would like to foster better teamwork in the field by merging experienced and young people to be in line with the needs of this era, without forcing old-fashioned guidance.
