Completion Ceremony for Kawakami Dam Construction Project.

On Sunday, March 26, 2023, “Completion Ceremony for Kawakami Dam Construction Project”, was held at the Kawakami Dam in Iga City, Mie Prefecture, hosted by the Japan Water Agency.
Approximately 200 people, including stakeholders and local residents, attended the ceremony to celebrate the completion of the dam. The Kawakami Dam was constructed for the purpose of reducing flood damage along the Mae-Fukase River, Kizu River, and the main stream of the Yodo River, water supply to Iga City, and maintenance of normal function of the river water flow.
It is a concrete gravity dam with a height of 84 meters and a crest length of 334 meters, and a dam volume of 455,000m³.
In the construction work of dam body for the Kawakami Dam, we have reconciled the contradiction between "high-speed construction" and "standardization of work" with consideration for the surrounding environment by leveraging BIM/CIM (Opens in a new window) , which involves attaching attribute information such as construction management data to 3D models, and by introducing precast components. We have also developed new technologies such as vehicle management system using infrared camera (Opens in separate window) .
Additionally, we have also developed new technologies, such as vehicle management systems using infrared cameras (Opens in separate window), autonomous operation systems for tower cranes (Opens in separate window) , automatic slide systems for dam formworks (Opens in separate window) , autonomous driving for dump trucks (Opens in separate window) , and on-site surveillance actual proof using unmanned aerial drones (Opens in separate window) . While undertaking new initiatives, we have been enabling the completion of the construction without accidents or disasters.
