Spam Alert: Beware of Suspicious Communications Impersonating Obayashi Corporation or the Obayashi Group

We have received reports of suspicious messages and communications sent via email, social media, messaging apps, and other means by individuals using the name of Obayashi Corporation or the names of Obayashi Group companies, officers, or employees.

If you receive a suspicious communication, please do not reply or respond, join any chat group, open any attachments, or access any URL contained in the communication.

Types of Suspicious Communications Reported to Date

The main types of suspicious communications reported to date are as follows.

Case 1: Suspicious Communications on Social Media and Messaging Apps Impersonating Obayashi Officers

We have received reports of individuals impersonating Obayashi officers, particularly the Chairman of the Board, inviting users to join chat groups on social media or messaging apps and soliciting them to buy or sell antique coins.

These communications and solicitations have no connection whatsoever with the Obayashi Group or any of its officers or employees.

Case 2: Fraudulent Emails Impersonating Obayashi Officers or Representatives of Obayashi Group Companies

We have received reports of fraudulent emails from individuals impersonating Obayashi officers, including current and former presidents, or representatives of Obayashi Group companies. These emails contain business requests or information concerning investment or recruitment opportunities.

The emails use domain names containing "obayashi" or the names of Obayashi Group companies. However, they are not associated with the Obayashi Group or any of its officers or employees.

Obayashi Corporation has confirmed that the following domains have no connection whatsoever with the Obayashi Group:

  • obayashigroup.com
  • obayashi.in
  • obayashigroup.jp
  • obayashiproperties.co.uk
  • * Other domains impersonating the Obayashi Group may also be used. Please do not assume that a message is from the Obayashi Group based solely on the sender's domain name.

What to Do If You Receive a Suspicious Communication

If you receive a suspicious communication from an individual claiming to represent Obayashi Corporation or the Obayashi Group, please take the following precautions:

  • Do not reply or respond.
  • Do not join any chat group.
  • Do not conduct any transaction or transfer funds.
  • Do not open any attachments.
  • Do not access any URL contained in the communication.
  • Do not enter or provide any personal or financial information.
