Quality

We earn the trust of customers by providing safe, secure, high-quality buildings, infrastructure,
and services, exercising honest craftsmanship, and employing innovative technologies.

Quality Management System

Following the Obayashi Quality Policy, we have implemented a quality management system (QMS) conforming to ISO 9001.

In both our building construction and civil engineering businesses with management systems, the executive officer responsible for quality (Director/Executive Vice President) is the superintendent of the QMS.

Under the QMS, we practice integrated quality management with a commitment to continuous quality improvement at all stages from planning to design, construction and after-sales services.

Training Employees to Ensure High Quality

We conduct training designed to improve our engineers' construction management skills as part of our quest to maintain and improve quality. We provide training at the interactive facilities of our Robotics Centers using mock-ups of reinforcing bars, steel frames, exterior and interior finishes, and mechanical and electrical facilities not just for Company employees, but also for employees from Group companies as well as suppliers and subcontractors. This training helps them acquire the specialized knowledge they need for their particular jobs and learn techniques in construction management. We also provide various high-level training programs at our construction sites and the Technology Research Institute. This training includes, for example, hands-on technical training to enable participants to acquire the latest techniques.

Developing Technologies that Help Resolve Social Issues

Our customers have diverse needs centered on elevated levels of safety and security, environmental awareness, and comfort and convenience. We consider it important to meet these needs at the lowest possible cost and in the shortest possible time. We are constantly striving to identify our customers' problems and the technologies needed to resolve them. We also seek to determine how these technologies can be used in righting social issues. With these things in mind, we strive to make optimum proposals to customers and to develop the technologies to make them possible.

To meet these needs, the Obayashi Group uses the latest technologies to increase productivity in all processes including surveying, investigating, design, construction, and inspection. Technologies we are actively developing and implementing include ICT, AI, and robots. Examples include 3D surveying with Augmented Reality (AR) and drones, construction process visualization using BIM/CIM and Mixed Reality (MR), and remote operation of construction machinery so that no operator needs to be present.
