Adoption of JP-MIRAI Assist, a Consultation and Remedy Service for Migrant Workers

Obayashi Corporation has adopted JP-MIRAI Assist, a consultation and remedy service for migrant workers operated by General Incorporated Association JP-MIRAI, to improve the working and living environments of non-Japanese workers engaged in the supply chains of Obayashi Group's operations in Japan.

The Obayashi Group implements human rights due diligence across the entire group, including its supply chains. It works to resolve human rights problems by identifying individual risks and incorporating measures to reduce those risks into work processes. By introducing the JP-MIRAI Assist service, the Group aims at establishing a system to provide relief for non-Japanese workers engaged in the supply chains of its domestic operations.

With the objective of becoming a corporate group that values people, the Obayashi Group will continue to respect the human rights of all people that have a stake in its business.

As a consultation service for foreign nationals living and working in Japan, JP-MIRAI Assist accepts consultations on all matters related to their working and living environments. It also provides attendant support, including accompanying migrant workers to public offices or medical institutions when their problems cannot be resolved through consultation alone.

In addition, consultations with residence status and labor issue experts, as well as support for the use of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services, are offered.

Consultations for workers through email, telephone, chat, and other means are available in multiple languages (21 languages as of April 2024) on not only work-related problems but a broad range of fields including daily life, education, medical care, and welfare.
