Opened in March 2023 under the slogan “Let’s build a ballpark the world has never seen before,” ES CON FIELD HOKKAIDO was conceived as a uniquely Hokkaido ballpark that makes the most of its rich natural setting. Its distinctive exterior features Japan’s first retractable roof—one of the largest in the country—along with a 70 m high glass wall that draws in abundant natural light. The stadium seats approximately 35,000 and incorporates a range of design innovations, including seating positioned close to the field, a natural-grass playing surface, and a 360-degree circulation concourse that allows spectators to follow the game from virtually anywhere inside. With an on-site hotel, bathing facilities, a beer brewery, a kids’ area, and more, the ballpark also serves as a destination that attracts visitors even on non-game days.
